Electronic Photoshop Class at Miami Dade College

Here are the Class, Homework and Projects for my
Electronic Photoshop (GRA2156C) Class at MDC Kendall
Professor Camilo Morales

The Color Living Room
The original line drawing had no color.
I broke out my box of Photoshop crayons and had fun.

The Texture Living Room
We started this in class and finished it at home.
We tried using different textures and seem-less tile.
My Initials
The dessert, and no that is not me.
This was the class exploring how mask work.

Sonia, My Classmate
For this we googled a photo of a rock band.
Then took turns photographing each other in the different rock band poses.
Then we cut the rocker with the different Selection Tools.
The Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, Magnetic Lasso, Magic Wand and Quick Selection Tools.

Rainbow Eye
During this class we further explored using masks
and learned about the Gradient Tool

Heart with a bite out of it.
Basic Instructions on how to use the Pen Tool.

Sonia's Hands
I used the pen tool to creates shapes of Sonia's hands and then mask them.

Two Eyes (Original)

Three Eyes
What everyone who learns Photoshop.
How can I give the person a third eye.

Here we cut out the model from background and gave here
a new background similar to the original (on right).

Absolute Vodka (Original)

Absolute Vodka
We use shapes to ad highlights and shadows on the bottle,
changing blending options and and feathering to soften edges.
We created the Wine Glass from scratch and created the
Bubbly with a scattered tip and distorting with Liquify

Model, Before (Original)

We touched up the skin with the Spot Healing Brush Tool and the Cloning Tool
We played with the closest eye to make it a little bigger with
Liquify Tool> Bloat

Wooden Face (Original)

Wooden Face
With the Burning and Dodging tool, we tried to change the look of the man.

Smoke
Liquify Tool again.
I need to work more on the wispy edges.
The background is a Filter> Render> Difference Clouds

Striking the Match
This is my favorite project so far.
We used various tools for this one.
The stick was created by using the filter Render> Fibers
The match-head is filter Render> Noise then Hue to red and higher Saturation
Speckled brush for Sparks and then Warp by grabbing center and pulling bottom right.

I drew this for my drawing class last semester.
This will be one of my projects

Phil Pruitt Photography & Design
Times new Roman Bold

I used a third party Filter called Bevel Boss

I took a picture of my lens and cut it out with the Lasso Tools.

Here I placed the lens where I wanted and used Transform> Warp to give it the shape from the drawing.

My classmate suggested that I try the Filter> Render> Lens Flare.
This is the Movie Frame Option

Building on top of the Movie Frame Lens Flare
I added Filter> Render> Lighting Effects> Spotlight

Still building on the Lens Flare> Movie Frame and Lighting Effects> Spotlight
I added another Lens Flare> 50-300 mm Zoom.

Shades for the Popular Robotics magazine color.

A start for the Magazine Project.

Popular Robotics Magazine Cover
I used Shapes, Gradient and Patterns to create the iBot.
I used the pen tool to create the Aperture.

Deborah
Searching for ideas,
I thought Debo would make a beautiful mermaid

The Tail
I searched mermaid photos and drew the tail based on one of the images.

I scanned the drawing and then used the Pen Tool
to create a path for the tail.
And cloned in more beach waves and sky> Top Side and Right Side
I applied the filter Glass Mosaic but not sure how I want it yet.

Deborah the Mermaid
I selected, copied pasted a piece of her shirt and placed it inside a mask for the tail.
then Transform> Warp to give it a nice flowing curviness to it.
I applied a slight bevel which gives the tail a squeegee touch it.
Kinda the way fish can 'slip' out of you hands...
then selected the crescent moon shapes of the hips and gave pasted part of the fabric on each.
Also used the warp tool to make the curves 'right' to match the tail.
In the original photo, the model's foot was coming out slightly right behind her head.
I use the Clone Tool to remove her foot.
From the Surfer project, I took a hand at adding some water drops.. since she just got 'outa the water.

Here you have four different versions. One totally squeekee clean and the others with water drops.

This last thing I did with this project is to add this sky,
'cause the original was pretty dull.
On the original photo of the model,
I used Select> Color Range and clicked on the sky.

The Mermaid

I took away the pattern in the waves on the right.

I used Hue and Saturation to change the design to something not-this-worldly.
I also used the Color Replacement Brush to shade some areas.
Star Ship DVD Cover
I Googled Star Ship and drew this from one that I liked.

Then I used the Pen tool for an Electronic Copy.

Here I used gradients, patterns and glows to create the ship.
The lasers are a path with a Motion Blur applied.
There is also a Motion Blur on the blue light at the bottom

Star Ship DVD Cover
I downloaded a free font called Federation for the main text.
I made the Star with a 7 point Polygonal Tool, then add a outer glow.

I changed the text of the Title so that it would not compete with the Main Star Trek text.

Mid Term Project
Everything we learned up to this point...
Layers, Gradients, Patterns, Shapes, Paths, Masks, Type and Filters

Environment Project
How to make a perfect day into a not so perfect day.

Rainy Day

Surfer (Original)

Surfer with water drips on the lens of a camera.

Here we added water coming out of the faucet.

In this project we created a flyer in 15 minutes.

The Vulcan
First I made the eye brow on the left with the Clone Tool and Liquify Tool.
Copied this eye brow to the other side and tucked it under her hair with a mask.
Next I cut out the ear on the left.
Used the Patch Tool to clean up stray hairs.
Then the Clone Tool to clean up a bit more.
I used the Liquify> Bloat tool to stretch the ear to a pointy tip.
Then I used the Polygonal Lasso to select the inner portion
of the tip and made it look more realistic with the Clone Tool.
Then I did the same thing to the other ear.
I cut the model out  with the Quick Select Tool
and added a view of the sky that I shot the other day.
The eyes were sharpened and given a green tint.
The uniform is a combinations of Filter> Render> Fibers,
Filter> Blur> Motion Blur and a Radial Blur.
The Logo is created with the Pen Tool, Gradient, and Noise> Add Noise.
Did various Adjustment Layers and Clipping Masks to each Layer:
Levels, Photo Filters and Hue & Saturation.

I fixed the mask around the body.
I gave the uniform shape and took away the flatness from the original uniform.

The Jeanie on her Magic Carpet
Inspired by the book Alladin and his Flying Carpet
I used brush to create different fantastical shapes.
Applied Difference Clouds to Background
Cut out and used a piece of the skirt to make the carpet.
